As Someone With A Tendency Toward Procrastination Must Have Said...

Better late than never.

In the spirit of our recent attempts at getting the necessary funding for the mixing and mastering of the album, Team IMR is playing at the Backstage Lounge this Friday July 24th. So far our recent attempts appear to have been successful. Let's keep the streak alive. Doors are at 9, and I believe we are on second.

Thanks for everyone who came out to the last show, I hope you enjoyed what I think might have been our (intentionally) longest set on record. Of course, back in the good ol' days equipment breakdowns and general malfunctions peppered with awkward stage banter and intermittent periods of silence managed to stretch out our sets to film-version-of-the-lord-of-the-rings-return-of-the-king-style-excess...

Which leads me to this other another thing - I decided to start reading the original version of said story (or at least the first book) for some summer reading. But for some reason I decided to start reading shortly after watching the extended movie editions. And now every page turns into this great struggle of trying to un-imagine Elijah Wood's incredibly lifelike portrayal of a precious-moments figurine (cf. http://www.preciousmoments.com/content.cfm/product/Love-Knows-No-Boundaries). I'm not sure I can do it. Its at one turn disappointing and at another a kind of socio-technological study on the destructive effect of film on the imagination.

So, anyways. We have a show and stuff.

Just so you know...

...we've finished tracking.

That means, short of mixing, mastering, and production - the album is done.
We even have a bit of money to start mixing, still need a bit more, but we've got a show coming up to help us out.
The last three days spent in the studio with Nanderson involved - among other things - laying down some Brothers Chan string-goodness on some tracks. Their work, of course, is most excellent.

So far we've got 13 tracks. I'm not sure many (if any) of them have proper names yet. All but two of them we unanimously love. We'll see what happens to those two.

Thanks for waiting. If its any indication after - what is it? - two and a half years of work (?) it still feels fresh. Can't be that much longer right?

In other news, the new Mos Def is a welcome return to form. The Grizzly Bear album is a headphone masterpiece. And Santigold, after a surprising and winsome Sasquatch performance, has turned into great summer listening.
